Starting AWS: A New Cloud Adventure
2 min read

Here comes my AWS Cloud learning journey …
What is Cloud?
Picture your laptop trying to lift a mountain. Running heavy apps, storing giant videos, hosting websites… your device would beg for mercy.
Cloud computing says:
“Hey, relax. Let my giant supercomputers handle the heavy lifting.”
Cloud means:
Using someone else’s powerful computers over the internet.
You pay only for what you use (just like electricity ⚡).
Access anytime, anywhere.
It gives:
✅ Storage
✅ Databases
✅ Servers
✅ Networking
✅ Security
✅ AI tools
…and a whole buffet of services.
Cloud Providers
They are like the landlords of massive computer power:
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Microsoft Azure
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
IBM Cloud
Oracle Cloud
AWS currently sits on the throne with the biggest market share. 👑
Types of Cloud
Cloud flavors, just like pizza varieties:
1️⃣ Public Cloud
Owned by providers like AWS, Azure, GCP
Anyone can rent services
Cost-effective and scalable
Example: Host your web app on AWS
2️⃣ Private Cloud
Dedicated cloud for one organization
More control and security
Used by banks and government
3️⃣ Hybrid Cloud
Mix of public + private
You decide what goes where
Example: Sensitive data private, rest public
🧩 Cloud Service Models
How much cooking do you want to do in the tech kitchen? 🍳
| Model | Who Manages What? | Example |
| IaaS | You manage apps, OS. Provider manages hardware | Amazon EC2 |
| PaaS | You focus on code. Provider handles OS + infra | AWS Elastic Beanstalk |
| SaaS | Everything managed by provider. You just use it | Gmail, Netflix |
Why AWS as Cloud Provider?
AWS is the superstar because:
✨ Largest global reach
✨ More than 200 services
✨ Pay-as-you-go
✨ Strong documentation and community
✨ Free Tier available for learners
✨ Top companies run on AWS: Netflix, Spotify, Airbnb
You get:
Compute: EC2, Lambda
Storage: S3
Databases: RDS, DynamoDB
Networking: VPC, Route53
DevOps: CodePipeline, EKS
AI/ML: Sagemaker
